Accompanist
Rob's first experience accompanying came in the 8th grade when he played piano for the school musical. Through middle
and high school Rob played piano, guitar, and sang for services at his church. While attending college at the University of
Texas at Austin Rob took accompanying classes as part of the curriculum for his degree in Piano Performance. Here he
learned to accompany singers, instrumentalists, and be part of a chamber ensemble. His senior year he played in a recital
that featured the Trio for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano by Francis Poulenc. Rob's first professional church pianist job was during college at the Gateway Baptist Church. Following college Rob worked for Norwegian Cruise Lines for almost three years doing shows, dance sets, and backing up many different kinds of entertainers. Following cruise ships Rob returned to Austin and became the church pianist for the Dripping Springs UMC. Rob quickly became the community pianist for Dripping Springs, playing for most high school and middle school choir concerts and musicals as well as accompanying band students for solo and ensemble contests. Rob has also done extensive accompanying in the jazz arena, playing for many singers and instrumentalists in and around Austin.
Since arriving in New York in the summer of 2011 Rob has continued accompanying work. He now accompanies ClassicalBallet and Modern dance classes at Peridance, Mark Morris Dance Group, Ballet Academy East, and Joffrey Ballet. He is also the organist at St. John Vianney Catholic Church (Bronx, NY).
